Manhattan decadence in the 1920's provides the backdrop for this tough musical fable; The Wild Party tells the captivating story of Queenie and Burrs as they live their lives as deluded vaudeville performers.On a lazy Sunday morning, Queenie, a dazzling but jaded dancer, finds that her relationship with Burrs, a deeply frustrated, violent minstrel performer, needs some energy. Together, they decide to throw a party that they will never forget.As the night progresses, we meet a diverse set of outcasts: a seemingly happy interracial couple; a cocaine-sniffing bisexual casanova; an incestuous brother-act; a lesbian stripper and her morphine-addicted girlfriend; a diva of indeterminable age and infinite life-experience; a naïve fourteen-year old girl who yearns for the lights of Broadway; and Black, the suave new boyfriend of Queenie's aggressive best friend, Kate. As the night unfolds, the gin-soaked party rages to a mounting sense of threat as artifice and illusion are stripped away. When midnight debauchery leads to tragedy at dawn, the parade of personalities you witness crash with a sobering thud, reminding us that no party lasts forever.
