The 'Online Sahityasabha' series, hosted by Kaberi Chatterjee, recreates online the tradition established by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in his home town of Santiniketan. There, the Sahityasabha ("literary gathering") takes place on Tuesday evenings. It is a performance at which schoolchildren from Patha Bhavan are invited to perform their own creations, including works by Tagore, based on recommendations from their teachers. This is how they learn to become stage-free.
To allow both the performers and the live audience to join from different time zones around the world, the 'Online Sahityasabha' take place on the last Saturday of each month.
This was the fifth 'Online Sahityasabha', bringing together mainly former Patha Bhavan students and their children. They performed from their homes in different countries.
The performers included Aparajita Bhattacharya, Ipsha Bandyopadhyay, Irabati Bannerjee, Kairabi Bandyopadhyay, Mousumy Chakraborty, Sharanya Sarkar Verma, Shivalik Gour & Sumana Sen. The guest of honour was Subir Banerjee.
Unfortunately, there was a connection problem during the reading by Mousumy Chakraborty but you can watch her recording of the complete reading here: [ Ссылка ] . There was also an audio problem during the recital by Aparajita Bhattacharya of a song by Rajah Ram Mohon Roy but you can watch her recording of the song here: [ Ссылка ] .
The next 'Online Sahityasabha' will be on Saturday, 28 November.
