How you handle your time and resources, especially your money, defines you. Do you fritter away your life and assets on diversions? Do you seek endless entertainment, but promised to someday learn to invest? Well, that day is now before you.

We have a simple, but highly effective plan. It will only take a few minutes of each day and it offers you in- credible knowledge, skill and wealth, but only if you will commit yourself to the plan, day by day. It will be difficult because it requires daily commitment, albeit only a few minutes each day. If you are interested, read further. Otherwise, close the book and give it away.

Why can’t people stick with anything? I have learned many skills in life: the ability to play the bagpipes, to run long distance is at a fast pace, how to fight hand- to-hand at a high-level, expert marksmanship skills in the U .S . Marines, etc. I have obtained a college degree, a graduate degree and a postgraduate degree. What did they all require? Time, patience, and practice.

Many years ago, I wished to become an expert downhill skier. I had traveled out west many times each winter to ski. Over time I reached a certain level of skill, but I had stall . I decided to take a lesson with a professional . He showed me several moves and had me practice them. I did so and when the terrain was not too steep, I could perform them well, but as the angle of the hillside increased, I fell back to old poor bad habits. I became frustrated.

My teacher told me one word that changed everything. The word was “mileage.” He meant that I needed to practice my new skills, remain patient, and put in the time. So, I relaxed, committed myself to the process of training my mind and body and developing the skill-set to master downhill skiing. In time, almost imperceptibly, I acquired the confidence to ski at a very high-level.

Similarly, learning to read stock charts requires “mileage” in the form of a small, but daily commitment of time to follow the charts, perform practice trades, make hundreds of mistakes, and learn from them. You will have successes, but more failures at the beginning, in the middle, and beyond. You will want to give up because the market is a tough opponent. It is capricious, fickle, mercurial, variable, unpredictable many times, and unforgiving of mistakes, but it is possible to master it .

Just like a wild horse, you must watch it, learn its wily ways, get on its back, and ride it. Will it buck you off? Hell, yes! You will feel the pain from being body-slammed into the ground. You will suffer the intellectual equivalents of a sore ass, a broken arm, or even a concussion.

Most people will try to master the market for a period of time . They will take a lick or two and go onto other things in life. The market will beat them down, crush their spirit, and defeat them. They will not do the daily work. They will claim the market is too temperamental, quirky, and inconsistent. They will say it is rigged and “only the Wall Street insiders have a chance.” These people will lose to the market.

The brave and faithful will not give up. The market will not break them. They will do whatever it takes . Eventually, they will become Market Masters, but they will never be fooled into thinking the market is anything but dangerous.

If you get careless or lazy, it will toss you like a wild bronco . It will always try to bite, kick, and hurt you. It will never cease being testy, cantankerous, snappy, splenetic, and bad tempered . However, it is rideable much of the time and there is nothing more exciting than being on its back, in the saddle.
