Machining a test piece to set the Jig Borer boring heads, and grinding the cutting tools with alignment to do it. By indexing the tool to a center mark, it be better determined if the top angle of the tool is correct rather than moving the edge off center. It is most important to be consistent working at 5 times the tolerance of the standard milling machine that is to the right of this Moore#2 Jig Borer.
The machine itself is specifically designed to locate and bore holes. Only light milling can be done such as fly cutting because of the spindle bearing arrangement with a heavy custom bearing preload done by Moore. This heavy bearing preload on two pairs of grade 9 angular contact ball bearings allows boring holes at high accuracy using higher speeds and the use of longer bars.
