Dents on deck, overlooked for years as trival deformation, were discovered to be evidence of a WWII depth charge attack. Cod's WWII crew, attending a reunion, pointed out the dents in a four-square-yard section of Cod's deck plating that were the result of a Japanese Imperial Navy depth charge attack. Shards of metal depth charge were recovered as souvenirs by the crew. If they damage to the deck had been worse it would have been repaired by relief crews. Sun angles on the day of shooting don't do justice to the dents!
