Despite Jesse being a legal green card holder, we were told flat out that she needed a visa because she's Brazilian. Turns out, as of 2022, Brazil requires a visa to enter Mexico, but usually, an American green card is all you need. Yet, the twist came with Jesse's green card situation—it was in this renewal phase where she had an expired green card but a valid extension document, the i797 form.
In a nutshell, after a rollercoaster of efforts, including a dead-end visit to the Mexican consulate in Portland, countless calls, and even reaching out to the wedding coordinator in Cabo for help, we found out that flying directly to Mexico was a no-go for us. Every airline refused us despite clearances we thought we had. So, we got creative and find a different way into Mexico...watch the video to figure out how we did it!
