First major fight of the run. Purrloin is the biggest roadblock for an early game mono Psychic run since it learns no Psychic type moves naturally, which means each time I want to face a mandatory Purrloin trainer I need to PP stall my own Munna in the grass, while also managing exp and attack EVs so I can actually beat the Purrloin consistently. I got lucky here, but as I survive two scratches I either two shot with Struggle (no Growl) or three shot with Struggle after Growl, meaning I just have to dodge crits. After this fight I can encounter wild Purrloin making the PP stalling process a lot quicker.
MY HARDCORE NUZLOCKE RULES:
- If a Pokemon faints, it is considered 'dead' and can't be used in battle.
- I can only catch the first eligible encounter on each route. As I'm only using Psychic types, this isn't an issue so long as I capture them. HM Slaves are an exception.
- I cannot use items in battle.
- I must play in set mode (no switching between Pokemon).
- I cannot level beyond the ace of the next Gym Leader - if I do, the Pokemon that overlevelled will be boxed in the next available opportunity.
- Dupes Clause: I cannot catch multiple of the same Pokemon.
- The run is completed when I defeat Ghetsis in the Plasma Castle and the credits roll.
