Chinese tech company Xiaomi disrupted the Indian smartphone market when it debuted in the country in July 2014. To mark this decade long presence, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 13 5G and along with that showcased their fancy new EV, the SU7 for the very first time.
During this event celebrating its 10th anniversary in India, Xiaomi showcased its all-electric sports sedan, the SU7 signalling that it might be eyeing the Indian automobile industry next.
The Speed Ultra or SU7 took the Chinese tech giant a considerable investment of nearly $10 billion. Deliveries in China began back in March 2024, with over 70,000 bookings already made. The company aims for 100,000 deliveries by 2024 end.
Xiaomi's entry into the Indian automobile industry could be another point of disruption. It will be directly competing with BYD, Hyundai and BMW.
