Personal review of shrub rose “ Hyde hall” bred and introduced by @david_austin_roses in 2004 and named after @rhshydehall estate in Essex
Once again, as you would expect with a rose named after an RHS Garden, this is an absolute must have rose
Reaching around 5’ x 5’ it makes a real free flowering statement in the garden, planted on its own en masse. Try using this as an informal hedge.
Beginning, flowering in mid June, it will flower continuously all the way through to the back end of September. And in all my time, reviewing roses, I’ve never had a young plant under two years old, produces quite so many flowers, quite so quickly
Flowers are unfussy and naturally beautiful opening mid pink with beautiful tones of apricot and yellow running through into the lime green eye at the centre,
Blooms are produced in vast quantities. You will struggle, keeping up with the deadheading, renowned for its vigour, health, disease, resistance, and ability to stand up to the heat. This rose will also do well poor or stony soil, making a perfect choice as our summers grow hotter, drier, and longer .
The fragrance is light and fruity with upper zesty notes of citrus, followed by floral tones of elderflower, and summer fruits,
fragrance, rating 6⭐️s
