Nestled in Yaba @okonkwobypapiees provides a taste of traditional Igbo cuisine. The atmosphere at Okonkwo by Papiees is more of a laid-back lounge, with outdoor seating and a few individuals working and charging their phones.
I stopped by because I wanted to try proper Pounded Yam and Ofe Nsala but they had no pounded yam available. They had other swallow options available like Sempvita but I tagged along with a proper Igbo woman who believes it’s a crime to pair Nsala Soup with anything other than Pounded Yam.
I ended up settling for Catfish Pepper Soup as my alternative, and the wait for my meal was a bit on the longer side, approximately 43 minutes, I guess they were preparing it from scratch.
Anyway, If you prefer a more relaxed and comfortable dining experience, I would recommend ordering their meals off platforms such as @chowdeck or @jumiafoodng or @glovoapp_ng
Hopefully next time I stop by they will have Pounded Yam and soup of choice available.
