MANAMA, BAHRAIN — A video of a man squeezing out a salivary stone from underneath his tongue is going viral on YouTube.
The footage was taken in Bahrain by a man who had been experiencing a pain under his tongue.
According to his doctor, it was due to a blockage in the sublingual gland, a major salivary gland located in the mouth. The condition is called sialoithiasis.
After several days of discomfort, he awoke one morning and felt something hard under his tongue.
That’s when he went to the bathroom, flexed his tongue, and a stone about an inch long came out.
Salivary masses form when things in your saliva, such as calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate, crystalize and form stones that range in size from a few millimeters to a couple of centimeters.
