PART 7: TEXT EDITORS (GEDIT, NANO, VIM)

In this video I want to show you the basics of the Linux command line interface. With this you will become a Linux Pro yourself. We will cover the following commands in the video:

gedit - standard text editor in Ubuntu
vi/vim - powerful command line interface editor (terminal editor)
nano - command line interface editor (terminal editor; not so powerful; for the lazy amongst us)

nano shortcuts:

ctrl+o - save
ctrl+x - exit
ctrl+k - delete line in file

vim shortcuts:

:q - quit
:q! - quit without saving
:wq - quti with savin
dd- delete line

Enter recording mode (recording a command) by pressing
“qq”
Enter the command sequence by pressing
“dd” + cursor down + cursor down
this will delete a line and skip to the third line
Quit the recording mode by pressing
“q”
Execute the command sequence e.g. 300 times by pressing
“300” + “@” + “qq”
