I had quite a few tuna mayonnaise sandwiches growing up. It’s actually one of the first things I can remember making for myself consistently as a kid. This mayo-free version by Daniel Gritzer on @seriouseats is nothing like those, but is super tasty in its own right!
Briefly soaking the red onions in red wine vinegar gives them a pop of flavor while also mellowing them out a bit. Make sure to use high-quality oil-packed tuna (ventresca if possible). A little dash of fish sauce or minced anchovies helps make this salad a touch more savory.
