With incendiary guitar chops and raw, powerful vocals, Carolyn Wonderland draws instant comparisons to fellow Texans Stevie Ray Vaughan and Janice Joplin.

She developed her distinctive finger-style technique style as a child, after her mother banned her from using a pick on the family's Martin guitar she had scratched by playing Townsend-inspired windmills. She began performing as a teen, and later with her band the Imperial Monkeys, opening for and playing alongside B.B. King, Johnny Winter and Buddy Guy. Wonderland was soon racking up awards from the Houston press, including Best Female Vocalist seven out of eight years running. Now based out of Austin, Wonderland's most recent album Miss Understood was produced by Asleep at the Wheel's Ray Benson, and she has a new release scheduled for later this year.
