In this video, student Eline shares information about the Pre-Master of Science in Leisure & Tourism Studies at Breda University of Applied Sciences. Eline explains that she chose this university because it is the only one in the country offering a master's study in leisure. After completing her bachelor's degree in sport and physical education, Eline had the choice to find a job or continue studying. Since she couldn't find a job, she decided to pursue a master's degree as she believed it would be more valuable to her.
Eline highlights that the main difference between a bachelor's and a master's degree is the emphasis on scientific research. In a master's programme, students engage in extensive research in various fields, both quantitative and qualitative. Eline personally prefers quantitative research because she enjoys working with numbers. Although interviewing is not her strongest skill, she finds it fun to experiment with it.
One of the advantages of pursuing a master's degree is the increased job opportunities it offers in the sports field, which aligns with Eline's interests. The pre-master programme focuses on developing research skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and provides additional knowledge required for the master's programme.
Eline acknowledges that the pre-master programme can be challenging initially, with an overload of information in the first few weeks. However, there is ample time to review and consolidate the information. She mentions that her fondest memory was during the introduction week, where she had the opportunity to meet other pre-master students from different countries. Additionally, Eline enjoys her student job as a lab assistant in the experience lab at the Blue House.
