This was a fun and interesting project. Here's a little backstory:
A few years ago, I was having some issues with kind of a "sitar" effect on my high strings, which I mistakenly attributed to my brass (Wilkinson) saddles, which had divots wearing into them from the strings. I think it was more likely a nut issue (I did do a light buff in the slots with a nut file later on). However, in my impulsiveness and curiosity, I purchased some Gotoh titanium saddles, which were supposed to be similar to brass with some added brightness. And since they were titanium, they would be much harder and more durable.
I've gotten really sensitive to certain frequencies and harsh highs lately and decided to go back to brass saddles, but better quality brass. I understand brass saddles come in different grades and it can affect the performance and durability of them. Anyway, on a whim, I got an aluminum E/A saddle to see what kind of difference it makes as I'd seen several teles with them and was curious.
This is the first of two videos of the swap. I do a brief demo before the change. Be interested to hear which set you guys like.
