Returning injured employees to work is the goal of the workers' compensation system. In this video, you'll learn a key metric, the Return to Work Ratio.
The Return to Work Ratio is the percentage of employees that return to work following an injury within 0-4 days. The goal for your program should be greater than 90%, while best-in-class programs will have a return to work ratio of greater than 95%.
The Return to Work Ratio is a simple calculation, but it is a more robust leading indicator than looking at Lag Time alone. Success with your return to work ratio will indicate success with overall workers’ compensation
management. It indicates how well you are:
• working with your medical providers
• obtaining employee restrictions on the first medical visit
• preparing and using your transitional duty job bank
• communicating with your employees
• coordinating efforts with your claims handler
