It's been a while, hasn't it? I decided to play the game again after seeing that Blounard has been cooking big time with new strats. That goddamn boost ramp ended up being the remaining piece of the unsolved puzzle of beating the Expert Staff Ghost. This specific one really inspired me to get back on the grind
Again, no, your eyes are not decieving you; we actually use the ramp now! Getting the low trick, however, is... very tricky, no pun intended. According to our very reliable Kart TASers, it's close to being a frame perfect window error room or something. So to keep it short, it's a very annoying thing to pull off. Things such hopping more leaning towards the left and holding the hop button for a bit seem to help a bit. I still consider this luck based, given how precise this is. I couldn't believe I got a 3/3 low trick run
Other than getting low tricks or not, this run is pretty good. I had to drift a bit wide on lap 2 last turn, since I got unlucky with the bounces. No major mistakes though. Oh and also 2 miniturbos at the very end must be charged now, since releasing the super miniturbo in time is unrealistic, even for a TAS, so charging 2 miniturbos is faster
I'm not sure if I'll go for the sub, but I think I will, considering how fast I set this run. I'm also playing a lot of Pokémon recently, so I might be alterning those games. Not 100% sure what my next move will be, as of MKWii. For now I'm happy I was able to barely get the Gold Star here
One thing I learned by setting this run is that breaks are key. Not only your mental health improves, but also your patience and mindset get restored. Despite taking breaks might seem hard (my case), perhaps even the most impossible thing in the world to others, given how addictive the game is, it's so worth it. Roughly 3 months have passed without playing the game, and I feel much better mentally. Here goes my two cents.
