After spending the night in Stickle Ghyll car park, I was up bright and early to take on my first solo wild camp in freezing winter conditions.

I made my way up to Stickle Tarn via Stickle Ghyll, ticking off four wainwrights: Sergeant Man, High Raise, Thunacar Knott, and Harrison Stickle. With frozen tarns all around, I descended back down to Stickle Tarn to collect water before ascending back to Harrison Stickle via Pavey Ark, ticking off one more Wainwright in the process. I then pitched my MLD Duomid, and got settled in for the night.

Despite freezing temperatures of around -6, I was blessed with absolutely perfect winter conditions, and the most spectacular cloud inversion. A truly unforgettable day and night.

The following morning I headed back to Stickle Ghyll car park, and back to reality.

Definitely an above average experience for this below average wild camper!
