This is Taylor University's annual Silent Night game. Each year on the last Friday of the Fall Semester, Taylor host a holiday men's basketball tournament. The crowd of students shows up - many dressed in pajamas, costumes and various attire - and is completely silent until Taylor's team scores its 10th point. That is when they go absolutely crazy. It's one of the greatest traditions in college sports and has gotten worldwide recognition. Taylor's basketball team is coached by Paul Patterson, a Hall of Fame coach with more than 700 wins during his career. Patterson's Trojans have been a perennial power in the NAIA for more than 30 years and are members of the Crossroads League, formerly known as the Mid-Central Collegiate Conference. Other conference members include Bethel (Mishawaka, Ind.), Huntington, University of St. Francis, Marian, Spring Arbor, Indiana Wesleyan, Goshen and Mt. Vernon. In 1991 Patterson's team advanced to the Final Four of the NAIA national tournament, which at that time was held in Kansas City at Kemper Arena. Taylor's Casey Coons is an academic all-American and was a Capital One first team selection last year. Coons, a senior, has made the 10th point each of the four years he has played for Taylor. It's a fantastic tradition. Thanks for viewing!
