In a collaboration with the progressive thinking and innovative owners, the world-renowned design and build firm, EBTA Architects, designed this Playa Del Rey home with the harmonious balance of aesthetics, creativity, and functionality perfect for beach living. From the very entrance a magical contemporary oasis unfolds. A pedestrian gate opens to an inner courtyard and the majestic pivot front door of hand carved walnut swivels to reveal the dramatic three-story entry and floating staircase to the three levels of living and entertaining spaces.
The first level includes a guest suite, two wine rooms that can hold a combined total of 3,000 bottles, and the media-family room that opens to a patio with sitting area, garden, and direct access to the beach.
A secondary staircase leads to the main entertaining areas of living and dining area and superb chef’s kitchen appointed with professional Wolf 6 gas burner range and griddle, two additional ovens, sub-zero refrigerator and freezer, two Miele dishwashers, and all the amenities for both intimate and larger scale entertaining. Bespoke hand-crafted cabinetry is made of custom riffed walnut and perfectly complements the solid wood floors of Brazilian Walnut. There are radiant heated floors throughout and elements of brass and copper are incorporated into the build design to weather well with the ocean environment. The warm toned stonework of Lago Azul is found throughout the home.
The living room with two walls of glass allows for the spectacular and unobstructed views of the beach and the coast to the North. A bridge to a second private guest suite and powder bath complete this level.
Ascending the floating architectural staircase, drenched in light by a Southern wall of windows, one arrives to the third level where the master suite is perfectly situated to take in the views. Sensitive to the surrounding environment, this thoughtfully crafted home has been designed to maximize casual beach living at its finest yet with all the amenities of a chic sophisticated urban townhome. The unprecedented direct access to the beach as a backyard, and the Pacific Ocean as its backdrop make this a piece de resistance in Playa Del Rey.
