China's Guangdong Province Activates Highest Emergency Response Amid Severe Flooding
Severe flooding in China’s Guangdong province prompted local authorities to activate the area’s highest emergency response on June 21.
Persistent heavy rainfall caused rivers to bloat and forced the evacuation of local residents, according to Xinhua News Agency.
A Yingde government WeChat post said the river peaked at just under 36 meters at midday on June 22 in the city located just two hours drive north of Guangzhou. The government post said nobody was reported injured in the floods.
