On 27th Nov 2021 I drove into Kaeng Krachan National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกระจาน) Thailand, and almost immediately came across a troop of stump-tailed macaques - Macaca arctoides (ลิงเสน) foraging along the road. Stump-tailed macaques are sometimes affectionately referred to as Stumpies, and sometimes not so affectionately as Ugly Monkeys. I had seen them in that area on previous occasions, but this time I saw that there were a lot of baby macaques, so I couldn't resist stopping for a closer look. It turned out to be a wonderful experience with these amazing primates and especially as my daughter was with me to enjoy this encounter, and to take still pictures with her camera.
