Dana Fast was born on March 30th, 1931 in Warsaw, Poland. She was only eight years old when the Nazis invaded her country. In 1940, Dana and her family were relocated to the Warsaw Ghetto. For two years she was living there with her family. It wasn't until 1942 that she smuggled out with her younger brother until the remainder of the war. She disguised herself as a Catholic orphan in the countryside of Poland. Meanwhile, her father was killed in the Holocaust. Dana would come to the United States in 1964, currently living in New York.
