Ukraine; Lviv сity; Church of St. Andrew the Apostle
Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. Initially it was a Catholic church, the design of which was developed in 1896. Divine services began to be held in November 1897. Extensions were also built and it became a monastery. In 1898, a sculpture with the heart of Jesus was brought here, and then its walls were built around the monastery. During World War I, 4 bells were requisitioned, as well as an organ pipe for the needs of the army. In 1919, the monastery was severely damaged as a result of artillery shelling: the roof of the monastery was pierced and all the stained glass windows were broken. After the end of the Civil War in 1925, it was renovated. When World War 2 began and Soviet troops entered the city, they occupied the building for their needs. After the end of World War 2, the monks who owned this monastery left for Poland. For some time there was a transit point here. But until a glass factory opened nearby. Well, then all the buildings of the monastery and the church were transferred to the plant and later rebuilt into its dormitory. In the church itself, all the ceilings were completely dismantled. The church was divided into 2 floors and thus the temple turned into a dormitory for the mechanical and glass factory club. Only in 1990 the temple was transferred back to the church. Well, later it was restored.
