In this assay, we measure the migration of human neutrophils directly from one tiny drop of blood. We circumvent the need for neutrophil separation completely by using whole blood directly in conjunction with neutrophil specific chemoattractants and microchannels. We implement mechanical filters with right angle turns to jam the advance of red blood cells, while allowing enough space for chemokine diffusion and active neutrophil migration.
