How to fit a cavity drain membrane system. This video shows a simple example of Type C basement waterproofing to BS 8102. Drained protection of cellars is complimentary to waterproof concrete and cement tanking.
The cavity drain system uses studded waterproofing membranes. They cover the walls and floors of a basement. The raised studs form a cavity behind the barrier. The void collects seeping water and diverts it into channels. The drains flow into a sump chamber. The sump houses pumps that discharge water to an external drain.
Sealed plugs hold the membranes to the wall. Butyl rubber tapes seal joints between sheets. The system is then ready to test.
Optionally lay closed cell insulation. Then pour a concrete floor. Use size 10 screws to fit framing studs to the plugs. Attach plasterboard to the frame.
