The Fw 190 was introduced in 1941 and received many upgrades during the Second World War. The A-8 variant entered production in February 1944 and was powered by the BMW 801 D-2 engine. It used C3-injection for 10 minutes of emergency power boost to about 1,800hp. With 2 x 20mm cannons mounted in the wing root and 2 x 30 mm cannons mounted in the wings it packed a strong punch!!
JG 1 Pilot Logbook: October 6, 1944
Mission: Luftwaffe Intelligence has directed you to shadow a flight of transport planes carrying top Allied Brass. They have lost their escort fighters in the clouds. Take advantage of this opportunity! Good luck!!
Debrief: Major Schutt downs 5 Allied planes carrying top level special passengers!! He now has 21 career air victories.
These kills were made during one mission created by the Pat Wilson Campaign Generator using the 'Bodenplatte map' for a September 1944 German fighter pilot career. PWCG is a mod that generates dynamic pilot campaigns for the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series (Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, Battle of Kuban, Battle of Normandy and Battle of Bodenplatte). I don't think there are any dynamic WW2 campaign generators for DCS World?
The enemy AI in a PWCG mission is randomly generated for each NPC to be either Novice, Average, Veteran or Ace. This specific pilot campaign is set to 'veteran' with a 40% chance of any AI encountered during the mission being Ace-level. The Ace AI NPCs are deadly shots and I usually find myself KIA before I even know one is close! The gist of it is, this is NOT set to 'Hold my hand Daddy/Easy' level. It's closer to 'Hurt Me Plenty/Hardcore' level but not quite 'Nightmare!'.
