In J&K, the Traffic Police has restricted the movement of Amarnath Yatra vehicles traveling to the holy cave shrine in the Kashmir valley. Thousands of pilgrims begin their journey daily from Jammu, particularly from Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar, in the early hours, forming a long convoy with stringent security. The convoy only stops at designated Langar sites between Udhampur and Banihal for breakfast and lunch.
A heavily guarded 'Head Vehicle' leads the convoy, and a 'Tail Vehicle' follows it both to and from Kashmir. Police checkpoints have been set up where JKP and CRPF officers discreetly inspect all vehicles, including those carrying tourists, ensuring no Yatra vehicle proceeds beyond the scheduled cut-off time.
