Kings Hawaiian Bakery and Restaurant- the original Hawaiian Sweet Bread
Our mouthwatering tale begins by showing the outside of the real Kings Hawaiian Bread factory. Then we visit the original sight of the bakery and restaurant serving the Kings Hawaiian favorites.
Kings Hawaiian Bread started in the 1950’s by a man named Robert Taira. In the 1960’s he moved his bakery to King Street in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the 1980’s he opened a factory in Torrance California to produce his bread and rolls. The area had become Ohana (family) to him so he opened a more personal place to interact with the people. In 1988 he opened a family run bakery and restaurant that is still in business to this day.
In 2004 the family expanded with a new bread factory on Harborgate Way in Torrence which expanded production of the famous bread and rolls. In 2010 they opened a facility on the East Coast of the United States in Oakwood, Georgia. The facility in Georgia is large enough to produce 90% of the product now.
In 2013 they opened a corporate office in Gardena, California.
We had dinner and desert at The Kings Hawaiian restaurant and bakery.
