The residents of #Gomoa #Fetteh and its surrounds in #Ghana's Central Region celebrate the "Atopa" festival every year in September. Like every previous year, the peculiar festival dance was a proud display of the people's traditions and standards. This hilarious and interesting festival is celebrated in remembrance of how their greatest ancestor, Ahor saved them from slavery.
Men can choose any woman to dance with in the "atopa" dance. These guys are permitted to hold, stroke, and smooch the woman's posterior and other important body regions.
The lady is expected to submit to any man's request to dance with her, according to tradition. Although the "Atopa" celebration has been under scrutiny lately, it seems the residents of Gomoa Fetteh are prepared to continue their long-standing tradition.
Videos from this year's "Atopa" festival depict very overexcited adolescents who used the celebrations to grind the bums of women, molesting, abusing, and cajoling these ladies on occasion in order to gain access to their defenseless bodies.
Most of these ladies had their bottoms perpendicular to the men's corresponding positions, showing that they were enthusiastic about the celebration as well. While this was going on, the drums continued to beat strongly, sending energizing vibrations into the dancers' waists to encourage active participation in the "Atopa" dance.
Although the #Atopa Dance event has drawn criticism for being too sexual, the chief of Gomao Fetteh Nana Abor Yamoah II and his elders dismissed the criticism, saying that it is a type of stress-relieving exercise.
