I'm more of a laid back and slow tempo photographer. However this time I wanted to learn and experience how to do action and sports photography. So I said to myself, what better way to learn it than actually shooting sports! I was fortunate enough to belong to a group in my workplace that regularly plays basketball. So I grabbed my gear and went out there and gain experience in sports photography.
As for my gear, it's basically the same as my street photography gear. I'm using my Nikon Z50 and both 35mm & 85mm 1.8 prime lenses (FTZ II mount).
Although the gear is the same, it's different in terms of settings as well as the mentality going into the shoot. I shot at manual mode to prioritized my shutter speed as well as opening up my aperture due to the fact I was shooting this at night. For my shutter speed, I chose somewhere above 1/250th - Although it could've been better if I went for a faster shutter speed. This is to really freeze the moment I want in my shots. Although creatively speaking, I little blur really accentuates motion as well.
You'll notice as well that I have included some silky b-rolls in my video to spice things up. It's something I wanted to incorporate in my videos. So let me know if you like it and if you want to see more of it in the future.
