A quick daytrip through 📍 Monastir.
🪁 Bourguiba Mosque. The Bourguiba Mosque is a Mausoleum made for the first president of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba. You can enter this building for free.
🪁 Monastir has a charming little harbour that has some restaurants and coffees with great views. You can also rent a boat here or go on a guided boat trip with a captain.
🪁 The Ribat of Monastir is an old islamic defense structure that was made to protect Tunisia from intruders over sea. It’s the biggest islamic defense structure every built in North-Africa. Don’t forget to go up into the tower to get the best city views.
🪁A Café/Restaurant worth mentioning is El Grotte. You can choose to either sit outside and have a fishing harbour view, or take place inside the caves for a romantic brunch / dinner.
🪁 Like every big city in Tunisia, you’ll find a Medina in which you can do your vacation shopping. The medina’s are also worth visiting if you don’t have anything on your shoppinglist, as the narrow streets filled with remarkable Tunisian architecture is an experience itself.
🪁 The Cultural Coffee, Dar El Habib, is a small coffee filled with history of the first president. You can even find his desk in one of the rooms and other personal belongings. The food and drinks are inexpensive and the quality is awesome.
🪁 Dar Chraka is a great Restaurant for people who want to try the Tunisian cuisine. A Restaurant that is also inexpensive, right in the middle of the medina and their food is super flavorful. Bon Appetit!
