I have done a lot of research to perfect my favorite pint and enjoy it at home. I wanted the perfect creamy pint that I get at local pubs. I seem to be right on point and all the Guinness cans have been donated to the neighbor :D
Here is my kegerator setup information:
Guinness Tap handle and Faucet
Guinness Micromatic Coupler (U coupler)
Kegco Digital K309SS - 2 Dual Faucet Kegerator
Taprite Dual Gauge Nitrogen Regulator
Nitrogen to CO2 tank adapter conversion
Standard CO2 Tank with Beer Gas (75 N/25 CO2 mix)
1/2 Barrel of Guinness Keg
Keeping at 34-38 degree. I like my Guinness colder.
I run pressure at 30 PSI
Setup steps:
1. Install Tap handle and Faucet onto tower.
2. Run beer lines from faucet and attach to coupler. Insert small rubber washer, which seals the connection between the coupler and beer line.
3. Let keg settle for 24 hours if possible (2-3 hours minimum)
4. Attach regulator to CO2 tank.
5. Attach air line to regulator with regulator valve off
6. Attach air line to U-Coupler
7. Pop off the Guinness keg seal and clean the inside of the keg neck with a dry rag
8. Twist lock the U-Coupler on keg and push lever down to "tap" keg.
9. Turn on gas (All the way on) with pressure valve off
10. Open lever on regulator valve base
11. Dial in pressure by twisting the regulator valve in with a screwdriver clockwise. (You may also have a hand-tightening knob to adjust pressure).
12. Set pressure at 30 PSI. This worked for me with a 4-5 ft air line
13. Set kegerator at 36-42 degrees. I prefer 36 degrees, as I like my Guinness colder.
14. Enjoy!
The head is slightly large as the keg was just tapped and has not settled completely. It is recommended 24 hours settling time.
Let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to answer any as I have had to research multiple places to understand the process and configuration. This is my first keg and kegerator. :D
Here is my video of the whole setup, parts, and second day pour after the keg settled completely:
