Samsung Electronics records 15-fold surge in Q2 operating profits thanks to recovery in chip demand amid AI boom
삼성전자 2분기 영업익 10.4조 '깜짝 실적' 15배 뛰었다
Samsung Electronics has beaten market expectations, projecting higher operating profits in the second quarter compared to the year before.
The South Korean tech giant reported Friday an estimated second-quarter operating profit of 10-point-4 trillion Korean won or around 7-and-a-half-billion U.S. billion dollars, marking over a 15-fold surge from the same period in 2023.
This comes as demand and prices for memory chips increased due to the boom in artificial intelligence computing.
Sales jumped 23-point-3 percent on-year to 53-point-6 billion dollars for the same period.
