LYRICS
I want to do it, even when I can't
The commercials scream JUST DO IT and I did give all I had
But I got lost in translation, feeling empty and sad
Sometimes I mourn all the things I never had
What if my parents, taught me different things
What if I grew up easy and finished school
If I had learned I am worthy, instead of feeling like a fool
Sometimes I mourn, not having the right tools
I stay home when I can't, I stay in when I'm down
To recharge all my batteries and lose that frown
You can be assured when you see me around
I'm doing good
I want to do it, for as long as I can
Want to ignore all the warnings and just go on
Don't wanna take a break, I want to be strong
Sometimes I mourn, everything that went wron
I stay home when I can't, I stay in when I'm down
To recharge all my batteries and lose that frown
You can be assured when you see me around
I'm doing good
Based in the south of the Netherlands, singer-songwriter Elly Kellner plays melodic sad songs and secret happy songs that feel like a soft, warm whisper in your ear. Lyrically Elly aims to go beyond existing taboo, right into the core of her inner world, with the firm belief that there must be others who’ll recognize the mutual experience and hopefully feel less alone as a result. She serves melancholy combined with radical honesty, all on a guitar with just four strings.
Elly worked with Grammy Award winning producer Larry Klein (USA), Iain Matthews / Matthews Southern Comfort (UK) and Shannon Lyon (CAN). She was awarded with the Tamoil Culture Prize for the Arts & Literature.
