Chlamydomonas is a unicellular motile alga with two flagella and a cup shaped chloroplast.
Chlamydomonas asexually reproduce by zoospore formation. During this the 2 flagella are retracted and the protoplasm ready to divide.
Now the protoplasmic content divide vertically into 2,4,8……. and many pieces.
Each piece became a chlamydomonas type cell with two flagella but are smaller than the parent. They are zoospores.
Zoospores are liberated from the parent cell by bursting the parents cell wall.
Zoospores swim freely and grow to many new mature Chlamydomonas cells.
