South Korea, the U.S., and Japan sent out another strong message to North Korea just a few hours ago today,... as senior officials from the three countries got together in Seoul for trilateral talks focusing on the regime,… and its ongoing violations of UN resolutions.
Our Foreign Affairs correspondent Kwon Soa joins me in the studio for more.
Soa, we've seen a couple of strong messages sent out to the North; how is this one different from the previous ones? What was the core of the meeting today?

For the three countries, the common and biggest challenge is North Korea.
And when it comes to that front,... they are all on the same page,... meaning they won't tolerate any more missile and nuclear provocations.
South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam and his U.S. and Japanese counterparts Antony Blinken and Akitaka Saiki in their third round of talks,.. vowed for even harsher consequences than the sanctions imposed through the latest UN Security Council's resolution.

"If North Korea conducts another provocation despite the international community's repeated warnings, it will face even stronger sanctions and deeper isolation."

The three sides also expressed the importance of cooperating with other countries.

"We believe that China and Russia's role are very important. We want to deepen dialogue for closer coordination."

Hopes were also expressed about eventually changing North Korea's calculus about its nuclear and missile program,... but that it will take time.

"It's our sense that if we are able to sharpen the choice, there's absolutely the prospect that North Korea will make the right choice and reengage in denuclearization. And again what gives us a sense that that is possible is precisely the strength of the Security Council resolution, but it depends on implementation of the resolution, if it goes forward, as we expect I think North Korea will face a very difficult choice in the weeks and months ahead."
