VICTORIA -- Ovarian Cancer has been tagged the silent killer for decades. Oven spreading throughout women's pelvic area undetected, until it's too late and fatal. But thanks to a new vaccine researchers are developing at the Trev Deeley Centre, a cure may not be far off.
Today Genome British Columbia announced a big donation that will go toward equipment used in the vaccines development. The one-time funding is to help seed innovative projects of key strategic importance to the life sciences community.
If all goes well team leader Dr. Brad Nelson hopes to facilitate clinical trials in three to five years.
Nearly one-hundred women in Victoria will participate in the research by donating tissue and blood samples on a regular basis.
