As a sleepy-sounding Jagger says, "It's an early show," but by the time they get to Happy, Keith is wide awake and delivers one of the craziest, hottest performances ever.
This was the tour's only performance of Sweet Black Angel. Was this Jagger's first overt protest song on current events? Some people called Street Fighting Man a protest song, but that is fiercely debated. Mother's Little Helper and even Satisfaction could be termed as protest songs, but they were more general, commenting on broader societal issues. Sweet Black Angel started a long tradition of Jagger protest songs (Indian Girl, Undercover Of The Night, and many others) that has continued, to the man's credit, as long as the Stones have been making records.
