Romus Valton "RV" Burgin joined the Marine Corps in November 1942, and would see heavy combat in the Pacific Theater of World War II, mostly notably at the Battle of Peleliu and the Battle of Okinawa. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his acts of valor on Okinawa. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal in the HBO miniseries, "The Pacific," and in Eugene B. Sledge's epic history, 'With the Old Breed.' At the end of the video he shows he is still emotional about his men and getting back to them after being shot.
