As you wander through the city, the dark brick below your feet, you come across a new room, cramped and cold, but dry. Perhaps treasures lay here once, but all that is left are the remnants of those who came before. You light all the candles you find, fingertips numb and shoulders heavy from the weight you carry.

Thunder roars in the distance.

You press the ancient, soot-covered button into place and a bell rings out, its toll crying out as the story of the city – and those who hid from the light – begins, filling your mind with images from long ago; that bygone era.

Inspired by the new Deep Dark cities and, as usual, C418 and Lena Raine. More specifically I wanted to create something akin to music discs "11" and "13" as well as "Ancestry", three tracks that I absolutely love and think capture the darker side of Minecraft perfectly. There's lots of dissonance and dark undertones in this one; its dark, its spooky and (hopefully) it provides a little bit of lore.
