In Munich Germany at BMW lives the BMW AG Motorsport E46 M3 GTR 1 of 7 ever produced. This was built so BMW could legally participate in the American Le Mans Series with a BMW E46 M3 GTR/GT2 ALMS race car powered by the P60B40 4.0 Liter V8 race engine. The BMW E46 M3 GTR silver street car scene here is powered by the extremely rare, BMW factory built P60B40 a 4.0 liter, 90 degree V8, dry sump race engine that was detuned for the street spec version E46 M3 GTR. The 2001 BMW E46 M3 GTR factory built race car had been championed by the BMW AG Motorsport factory works race team Schnitzer and BMW NA Motorsport works race team PTG in the ALMS. The 7 street legal versions of the M3 GTR had all been painted the exact same color and had the noticeable front bumper, ventilated hood, rear bumper and rear wing.
