"Pitchers wanna be hitters!" Michael Jordan is just one of the all-stars featured in this 1990 television commercial for Nike produced by Spike Lee (who introduces the ad) that also stars Ted Williams, Yogi Berra, and for some reason Gene Simmons (in full makeup) and Rush Limbaugh. The BetaGems channel also has "Michael Jordan Bugs Bunny 1993 McDonalds TV ads," "Michael Jordan VS Marvin Martian 1993 Air Jordans TV ad," "Stuttering John VS Ted Williams 1991," "1994 All-Star Cheerios ad Bo Jackson, Kathy Ireland, John Tesh, more," "Nike Air 180 sneaker 1991 animated TV ad," "Denis Leary & Deion Sanders 1992 Nike Xmas ad," "1988 Nike ad: Dog's POV LONGFORM version," "Charles Barkley 1992 Nike ad Barkley on Broadway," "1996 Nike Air Flex Max TV commercial," and "1989 Bo Jackson & Bo Diddley ad Nike cross-training sneakers."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on Youtube or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area. This upload features materials protected by the Fair Use guidelines of Section 107 of the Copyright Act. All rights reserved to the copyright owners. To be used for research and archive purposes only, no commercial reproduction allowed.
If the copyright owner wants this upload deleted, simply ask and we'll do so immediately - please don't file a copyright strike! This channel is not monetized, we're just old senior citizen tapeheads trying to archive lost pop culture artifacts for all to enjoy.
