Sink marks in injection molded plastic parts are depressions on the surface of the part. This lesson first teaches the cause of sink marks "from the plastic's point of view". Next the student is shown what plastic processing conditions need to be changed to fix the sink mark problem. And last, they are taught the specific injection molding machine controls that should be adjusted to solve the problem.
This comprehensive step-by-step approach give the student a complete understanding of the problem and allows them to fix sink marks regardless of the plastic part design or plastic material used.
