This is just one module taken from the complete Practical Corner Weighting course.
When it comes to weight balance and distribution there are a few different ratios to consider which are front to rear, side to side and a cross weight ratio and in this introduction to weight distribution lesson, Andre explains the differences between these.
While many assume vehicles come with a perfect weight balance across these ratios from factory, this simply isn’t the case with OEM’s not always factoring in diver, fuel and engine (remembering some vehicles have multiple engine package options for the same chassis) positions in their original calculations. Furthermore, even when some aspects are balanced, it can be difficult to find the details on which ratio OEM’s used. This is why putting your road turned track car on some corner weighting scales can help you dial in your car’s balance to improve handling and stability in general, or even with a bias for your specific local circuit.
