For most youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, the transition to adulthood is challenging. Youth with disabilities face even more challenges as they transition. Early planning, informed by knowledge of the legal requirements of transition planning and the eligibility requirements for adult services and supports, helps ensure success.
This free webinar, hosted by Juvenile Law Center Supervising Attorney Jenny Pokempner, provides child welfare and juvenile justice professionals with information and strategies to improve transition planning for youth with disabilities and special needs. It includes information about the services and supports that youth should be accessing while they are in the child welfare system, including educational services, to better prepare them for the transition.
