Introducing Pronouns | This video introduces pronouns by building upon the student’s prior knowledge of nouns and proper nouns. The video reexamines the process by which nouns and proper nouns act as the comprehension projected and received when reading and speaking. Subject pronouns are first introduced as replacements for nouns and proper nouns when speaking and writing. The act of replacing nouns and proper nouns with pronouns is demonstrated in single sentences. Building upon this concept, emphasis is placed on our need to use personal subject pronouns in order to eliminate the overuse of the nouns and proper nouns in our writing, thus making our writing less redundant and more clear for our readers. Simple paragraph revision using pronouns is demonstrated through voice over and video imagery. The video further highlights personal subject pronouns by providing a distinction between singular and plural subjects and the identification of which pronoun to use properly in a variety of scenarios for the writer.
I’ve created an entire series of teaching videos to explain the components of English Language
Arts in a way that connects them to each other and to real world reading, speaking, and writing. The links for the videos in order are below. Please look for my other videos and share them with others that may find them helpful.
