'The Spinner' - the most famous song of Stanisław Moniuszko (1819-1872), a Polish composer of the nineteenth century, who became famous as the creator of several hundred songs. The collection entitled Home Songbook Moniuszko came to mind just after returning from his studies in Berlin, where he had a chance to become acquainted with the trend of Romanticism and his philosophy.
'Spinner' is a song for the voice and piano, composed for Jan Czeczot's text, and dedicated to Achilles Boniface, the most famous singer of Vilnius, with whom Moniuszko has worked closely for a long time. Tells the story of a flirtatious girl who, shortly after her bride's departure, quickly found comfort in the arms of the next adorator. Song published Moniuszko in Home Singer III as the seventh in a row song. The masterpiece has a simple harmonic structure, using the basic tone chords in which it is written. The last two stanzas of each verse are performed there. The spinning yarn, turquoise is alive in the rhythm of the story told - similarly the whole song, giving in the music layer the character of the text.
