"I'd like to call out Labour as liars". A powerful and passionate allegation from a Bolton resident who believes Labour plan to tax more than just the top 5% of earners, because he's on over £80k a year and he's going to be taxed.
For a moment he caught Labour's Richard Burgon on the hop as Burgeon tried to explain that Labour is taxing the top 5% of earners but didn't realise this guy was one of them... because the guy himself was adamant that although he earns over £80k a year, he isn't in the top 5% of earners.
Burgon eventually twigged: "So you earn over £80K?"
The Guy: "Yes, and I'm not in the top 5%"
Audience: "Yes you are"
The Guy: "No I'm not... I'm not"
Confused? Not as much as this guy was.
One other thought. Bolton has been hit particularly hard by austerity. The average salary there is £23k (payscale.com). This guy is walking round Bolton, on +£80K a year and he hasn't noticed how much better off he is than most people in his community. Something doesn't add up.
